Coaches and Staff
Coach John Florence
I fell in love with boxing at an old dog wash station converted into a boxing gym. I had a lot of trepidation walking into the boxing gym and I left with a headache and some pride I needed to get back. I was hooked. I enjoy sharing my love for the sport, and teaching boxing has deepened my passion for it.
Coach Armond Silas
I came to the Engine Room in 2014 and did the fitness classes for about 9 months. I took part in a few sparring bouts during and after that time and decided I wanted to try coaching. I became certified by USA Boxing in 2015 and worked/trained under Aaron Sloan for a year. Now I mostly only work with amateur and professional fighters, studying and perfecting the craft of "mitts."
Coach Bruce Scott
I started boxing in 2010, and after 8 months of training I won golden gloves in the novice division. I had 8 amateur fights and went 4 and 4. In 2015 I decided to go pro with Aaron Sloan as my coach and manager. 6 and 0 with 5 tko. Last year I won the N.A.M.A title as cruiserweight. To this day, I help Aaron with his classes to help teach the fundamental of boxing.
Coach Andre Brown
My name is Andre AKA "Coach Brown." I started boxing 2 1/2 years ago. I hated it at the time, but I really enjoy it now. I really enjoy fighting, training to fight, and training others. I really like coming in and seeing people wanting to work hard and give it all they've got. If you've been to some of my classes, you know I like to have fun but also work extremely hard.
I handle all of the office work for the Engine Room, including phone calls, emails, and memberships. I first started coming to the Engine Room in October of 2014, and fell in love with it right off the bat. My roommate and I came almost every night for classes, and got in the best shape of our lives. I love coming to get rid of stress, burn calories, and touch up on self defense.
